Overview
The Beach Advisory and Closing Online Notification, or BEACON, system meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s requirement to provide the public with a database of pollution occurrences for coastal recreational waters. It contains state-reported beach monitoring and notification data. The states, as well as territories and eligible tribes, are not required to submit their beach season data until the beginning of the following calendar year.
