The Chesapeake Bay–Virginia National Estuarine Research Reserve is designing and permitting the state’s first large-scale thin layer placement project. This process uses dredged materials from waterway maintenance to restore and build up coastal marshes and wetlands, improving their ecosystem functions and services.
