Airstrip Field Maritime Forest Restoration

Federal Funding: $464,990
This award funds the restoration of 45 acres to live oak maritime forest habitat and ecotone native plantings within the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve. The project will result in increased habitat and ecosystem functions and reduced wildfire risk compared to current pine-dominated forests and grasslands.
