VIS
NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management develops visualization tools and products to display local and global data. These displays are compelling teaching tools and are readily accessible for formal and informal educational settings.
Global Science Investigator is an interactive, 3-D globe for online users to view climate, hazards, and ocean visualizations.
Science on a Sphere (SOS) is a larger visualization system that displays animated data on a giant six-foot sphere. This illuminated globe features dynamic, moving images of atmosphere, oceans, and topography.
The Office for Coastal Management – Pacific Islands currently supports three SOS displays in Hawai'i:
- NOAA Inouye Regional Center in Honolulu
- Bishop Museum in Honolulu
- 'Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawai'i in Hilo
