Joshua Lott
Policy, Planning, and Communications Division
Joshua Lott serves as the acting chief of the Policy, Planning, and Communications Division at NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management.
Lott has over 30 years’ experience working in coastal management. He began his federal career as a program specialist for NOAA’s Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management, where he worked with several states on implementation of the Coastal Zone Management Act.
He helped the state of Georgia gain NOAA approval of its coastal management program in 1998 and later served as the office’s Gulf and Great Lakes regional manager. He also implemented the $150 million Coastal Impact Assistance Program, which provided funding to coastal states most impacted by outer continental shelf oil and gas activities.
Lott holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from The George Washington University.
